100+ North Korean Soldiers Killed in Russia Fighting

A clash between North Korean and Russian forces has resulted in the deaths of at least 100 North Korean soldiers and over 1,000 injuries. South Korea’s National Intelligence reported that senior officials among the casualties were involved in missile and drone attacks.

North Korea is believed to have deployed up to 12,000 troops to Russia, with most focused on the Kursk region. Ukrainian estimates suggest a higher number of troops are present, between 10,000 and 12,000. The reason behind the high casualty rate is attributed to North Korean soldiers being used as frontline shock troops in an unfamiliar environment, lacking skills to respond to drones.

Russian forces have complained about the burden caused by North Korean soldiers’ lack of knowledge in dealing with drones. This incident raises concerns over potential security risks and cooperation between the two nations.
