11-Year-Old Boy Killed in Charlotte Road Crossing Accident

A fatal road crossing accident occurred early Friday in northwest Charlotte, resulting in the death of an 11-year-old boy, Hendrix Truesdale. The incident happened around 7:26 a.m. at the intersection of Gum Branch Road and Interstate 485 loop.

Truesdale was found lying on the side of the road by police officers, who identified him as a student from Coulwood STEM Academy. He was pronounced dead at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center after being taken there.

According to preliminary investigation findings, Truesdale crossed Gum Branch Road outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2016 Nissan Frontier. The driver of the vehicle was not speeding or impaired at the time of the accident.
