117th Chicago Auto Show Offers Families Hands-On Time with Electric Vehicles

The 117th Chicago Auto Show is underway at McCormick Place, attracting nearly 300,000 visitors through February 17. The event features hundreds of new vehicles, including electric and economy models, concept cars, and convertibles.

For families, the show offers interactive fun beyond test drives. A Family Zone allows children to make bracelets, play games, and even test drive Power Wheels and mini-Teslas. Attractions like indoor and outdoor test tracks, “Camp Jeep,” and “Wheel of Fortune” auditions cater to all ages.

Stellantis returned to the show after a year-long absence, with popular models like the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona and Jeep Wagoneer S on display. Electric vehicles are also gaining traction, with nearly 25 models from 12 brands featured in the Chicago Drives Electric testing area.

Despite concerns about market uncertainty due to potential tariffs, consumers remain excited about the show. “It’s amazing what they do now: the horsepower, the speeds, all the amenities in the cars,” said self-proclaimed car enthusiast Fred Arias of Texas.

The event runs through February 17 at McCormick Place, offering families a unique opportunity to explore new vehicles and technology in a fun and interactive environment.
