1Password Adds Geolocation Feature to Improve App Access

1Password has introduced a new feature that allows users to assign a geolocation to items stored in their vault. This move aims to improve access to often-neglected apps, such as ticketing and airline apps, which frequently require re-entering login credentials. The company’s goal is to make these apps more accessible by eliminating the need to navigate through multiple screens to find an app.

The feature works similarly to a mobile utility box that can be accessed on demand. However, its practicality might be hindered by some apps’ poor names and URL schemes. For instance, some apps, like Maryland’s MARC commuter trains CharmPass or Toast’s Local by Toast, have unconventional names that make it difficult to identify them quickly.

1Password’s new feature is designed to tackle this issue by making it easier to access these apps. With the geolocation feature, users can select an app from their vault without having to type in login credentials every time. This should improve overall user experience and reduce frustration when using these often-neglected apps.
