1Password Adds Location-Based Password Tagging Feature

1Password has introduced “nearby items,” a feature that allows users to tag their entries with physical locations, making it easier to access relevant information in offline situations. This new feature uses location data to surface the most relevant information quickly, eliminating the need for manual searching or remembering account names.

Users can add location tags to any new or existing item in their 1Password vault and view them on a map interface within the app. The company cites examples such as door codes for workplaces, health records at doctor’s offices, WiFi access at gyms, and rewards membership information for local shops as potential uses for this feature.

For security and privacy, 1Password assures users that location coordinates are only used locally, without leaving the device. This feature is now available to all 1Password customers starting today.
