On Monday, February 3, some Social Security beneficiaries will receive an average payment of nearly $2,000. The payment is part of the agency’s distribution of more February payments to retirees, survivors, and recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
This payment is different from those who received early payments on January 31, as it will be issued to individuals who started receiving benefits before May 1997. Other beneficiaries receive their payments according to their birth dates, with disbursements scheduled for Wednesdays throughout the month.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has increased benefits this year due to the 2025 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), which raised the average payment for all retired workers by 2.5%. Disability benefits have also increased from $1,542 to $1,580. The maximum federal monthly SSI payments are now available.
Individuals who claim benefits at different ages will receive varying amounts based on their earnings history and claim age. The SSA is preparing to send out this payment as usual, with payments deposited directly into bank accounts or mailed.
