The 2024 Detroit Auto Show has arrived at Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit, showcasing an array of innovative vehicles that cater to gearheads and the general public alike. Media Day on Friday, Jan. 10, saw MLive journalists get a sneak peek at the latest concept cars, custom classics, and more.
Cadillac unveiled its Opulent Velocity Concept Car, a luxurious all-electric coupe with smooth lines and an interior upholstered in blue fabric. Ford showcased its F-150 Lightning Supertruck EV, which claimed victory at the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado. The truck features 1,600 horsepower and achieved a finish time of 8:53.553.
Grounded, a Chevrolet subsidiary, presented its G2 all-electric camper van, equipped with 270 miles of range, solar power, and customizable interior space. MyFlight Tours offered aerial tours of Detroit by helicopter, starting at $55 per person.
The show also featured rare vehicles, including the Reliant Robin three-wheeler famously used by Top Gear hosts. A Luxury and Exotic Vehicle Showcase brought together 50 prestigious automobiles from 12 luxury brands, including Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Rolls-Royce.
