2025 Cannes Film Festival Awards Announced

The jury chair, Juliette Binoche, presented the winners’ list for the 78th Cannes Film Festival’s Competition section, showcasing 22 films. Here are some of the notable awards:

Palme d’or went to Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi with his feature film “Un Simple Accident”. French director Kleber Mendonça Filho won Best Director for his film “O Agente Secreto” (The Secret Agent). The Grand Prix award was given to Joachim Trier’s film “Affeksjonsverdi” (Sentimental Value).

Other notable awards include Best Screenplay, which went to the Dardenne brothers for their film “Jeunes Mères”. Nadia Melliti won the Best Performance by an Actress award for her role in “La Petite Dernière”.

In addition, several special awards were presented, including a Special Award for Kuang Ye Shi Dai (Resurrection) and Un Certain Regard Prize for Diego Céspedes’ film “La Mysteriosa Mirada del Flamenco” (The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo).

The CST Award for Best Artist-Technician was given to Ruben Impens, director of photography, and Stéphane Thiébaut, mixer, for their work on Julia Ducournau’s film “Alpha”. Two new awards were also introduced, including the CST Award for Best Young Female Film Technician, which went to Éponine Momenceau.
