Austin Eckroat is a 50-1 longshot to repeat as winner, while Shane Lowry, a three-time PGA Tour champion and major winner, leads at 20-1. However, a surprising prediction from SportsLine’s computer model has Russell Henley stumbling this week and barely cracking the top five.
The model also suggests that Denny McCarthy, a 40-1 longshot, could make a strong run at the title. McCarthy, who finished T-5 at the Genesis Invitational, is ranked 22nd in scoring average (69.25). If you’re looking for a huge payday, McCarthy is worth considering.
