2025 NFL Draft Eligibility Rules and Deadlines

The 90th NFL draft is scheduled to take place from April 24-26, 2025 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. To participate in the draft, college football players must have exhausted their eligibility or apply for special eligibility as an underclassman.

Underclassmen who wish to enter the draft can submit a petition by January 15th and will receive feedback on January 16th. They have until January 18th to revoke their submission. A “championship” deadline of January 24th applies only to players participating in the College Football Playoff National Championship, with a revised submission window of January 27th.

The NFL will release an initial list of names on January 7th, followed by a final list on January 25th. The final list determines which underclassmen have been granted special eligibility and are eligible for the draft.

Note: Players who wish to return to school for an extra year may opt-out of the 2025 draft, while those who exhaust their collegiate eligibility can enter the draft immediately.
