2025 NFL Draft Pivotal Decisions Looming for Key Teams

The 2025 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, and five teams are facing critical decisions that could significantly impact their futures. The New York Giants, Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, and Vikings all have one thing in common – crucial draft slots that will determine how the first round unfolds on April 24.

For the Giants, selecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart over elite pass rusher Abdul Carter is a tough call. With veteran signal-callers Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston signed in free agency, it’s tempting to opt for Sanders. However, this might not be their best choice if they can secure Carter.

If Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter take the top three picks, New England and Jacksonville may receive calls from QB-needy teams regarding the fourth and fifth slots. The Patriots need an offensive tackle, but they’ll have to decide whether Will Campbell or Armand Membou are worthy of a high draft pick.

The Jets, despite signing Justin Fields, might select a young quarterback like Sanders or Dart with their seventh pick. Owner Woody Johnson may opt for a rookie to complement Fields and address the franchise’s long-term QB issues.

Miami is another team that could benefit from trading down, as they can find a starter at one of their primary needs later in the first round. Gaining more draft picks via trade could be a path toward competing with elite teams in the AFC.

The Vikings, with just four picks due to trades, may consider trading down from their assigned slot to net additional selections for the secondary and/or offensive line. Minnesota’s general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, is building a strong roster; a trade could give them an advantage in the draft.
