The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe has been tested at Edmunds’ track, revealing it to be quicker than Porsche’s own estimates. Despite its entry-level status, the base model still delivers exciting performance.
Design-wise, the new Carrera is mostly unchanged from its predecessor, with minor tweaks to the front and rear fascias, bumpers, and lighting. The instrument cluster has also been upgraded to a fully digital display.
Under the hood, the 2025 Carrera is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine, producing 388 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. While this increase is only 9 hp over the prior model, the power band has been adjusted to provide more torque at lower revs.
On the track, the Carrera accelerated from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, outperforming Porsche’s estimate by 0.2 seconds and beating its predecessor’s time by 0.1 seconds. The quarter mile was also completed in 11.7 seconds, a tenth quicker than the previous model.
Braking performance was equally impressive, with panic stops from 60 mph occurring in just 102 feet. On the skidpad, the Carrera pulled an impressive 1.07 g, demonstrating its handling capabilities.
The base 911 Carrera may not be as flashy as other variants like the GT3 or Turbo S, but it offers exceptional performance and driving experiences. With a price tag that won’t break the bank, this entry-level model is definitely worth considering for anyone looking to get behind the wheel of a Porsche.
