Dodge’s iconic muscle car is back with a modern twist. The 2026 Dodge Charger won’t come equipped with the classic Hemi V-8, instead opting for six-cylinder engines that pack a punch. The twin-turbo 3.0L inline-six engine produces 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque in its top-of-the-line Scat Pack model, which can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
A key feature of the new Scat Pack is its Line Lock mode, allowing drivers to unleash their inner drift king. The engine also boasts an electronically controlled exhaust system that mimics the sound of a V8 engine. This tech will be exclusive to the Scat Pack models, while the standard R/T model comes with less power but still impressive acceleration.
Despite the loss of its iconic V8, the 2026 Dodge Charger is still a beast on the road. The new car features all-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential, making it a formidable opponent in any racing competition. The Scat Pack’s weight is around 4,816 pounds, but it boasts ample interior space with plenty of legroom for passengers.
CEO Matt McAlear hinted that Dodge might not rule out V8 engines entirely, citing the company’s success with the SRT and Hellcat lines. However, it remains to be seen if this new muscle car will follow suit.
