3 States I’d Love to Call Home in the US

As a travel writer and constitutionally nomadic individual, I’ve had the chance to experience all 50 states in the US. While many of them are worth visiting, there are only a few that I’d consider living in full-time. After much contemplation, I’ve narrowed it down to three states: New York, Wyoming, and Rhode Island.

Firstly, I have a deep affection for New York City. The city’s cosmopolitan culture and 24/7 lifestyle are a perfect fit for me. Whether I’m exploring the concrete jungle or escaping to seaside getaways like Shelter Island or the Hamptons, New York has everything I need. Its two major international airports also make it easy to explore the world.

I’ve spent years living in Manhattan, and the proximity to my friends and family members is a bonus. Living in New York City allows me to balance my love for urban life with access to stunning natural landscapes nearby. The state’s wide-open spaces and cowboy culture are also calling to me, especially Wyoming’s Jackson Hole, which I consider one of the most beautiful places in America.

Lastly, Rhode Island embodies my ideal of East Coast island living. I adore its jagged coastline, stormy seasons, and charming coastal communities like Narragansett and Jamestown. The state’s mix of rural farmlands and lively nightlife makes Aquidneck Island a perfect getaway every summer. With its rugged beauty and laid-back atmosphere, Rhode Island is the ultimate safe haven for me.

While traveling has taken me to many amazing places, these three states have captured my heart. Whether I’m seeking urban excitement or natural serenity, they offer the perfect blend of lifestyle and landscapes that make them ideal homes in the US.
