3D-printed ceramic ink removes 75% of forever chemicals from water

Researchers have developed a simple and effective way to remove deadly forever chemicals from water using 3D-printed ceramic lattices. These substances, known as PFAS, are used in non-stick pans, paint, fabrics, and more. They break down extremely slowly and can cause serious health problems.

The new method uses indium oxide ink to create lattice-shaped monoliths that attract and bind to PFAS, removing them from water within three hours. Initial trials removed 75% of the contaminants.

This breakthrough has the potential to become a vital tool for cleaning up water supplies on a large scale. The monoliths can be easily integrated into existing water treatment plants.

The researchers hope to understand why the monoliths became more effective after repeated use and high-temperature treatment. They also aim to increase the removal rate of PFAS from 75% to higher levels.
