A new study has identified four exercises that can significantly improve sleep disorders without medical or therapy intervention. The research, led by the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, found that yoga, Tai Chi, walking, and jogging can directly impact sleep in different ways.
Yoga was found to increase total sleep time by up to an hour per night, while Tai Chi improved sleep quality and duration. Walking and jogging were shown to reduce daytime fatigue and improve mood stability. Strength training with resistance bands was also found to promote deeper slow-wave sleep.
These exercises can be incorporated into daily routines, tailored to individual needs and abilities, making them a viable primary treatment option for insomnia. The study’s findings highlight the therapeutic potential of exercise interventions in treating sleep disorders.
