Google has released several exciting new features for its Home smart speaker system as part of the spring update, bringing more customization options, improved automations, and enhanced home security capabilities. Here’s how to try these free upgrades:
Improved Automations: With the latest update, Google is making it easier to set up automations across multiple devices and interfaces. This includes a new presence sensing feature that allows you to create custom scenes based on whether you’re home or away.
Expanded Favorites: The Favorites widget now offers more controls, including an indoor temperature dashboard and Wi-Fi actions. You can also pin additional tiles like whole-home lights on-off to your favorites.
Easier Camera Access: Double-tap on the left or right side of the camera player to quickly jump forward or backward 10 seconds in a long camera feed.
Support for More Devices: Google Home now supports more devices, including Nest Protect smoke and CO alarm and third-party Matter smart locks. These features are available in public preview only.
More Powerful Controls: The latest update also brings new features like surface-specific favorites, picture-in-picture Nest Cams on your TV, and more web controls. To try these features, join the Public Preview group through Google Groups or sign up for updates directly from the Google Home app.
