Rapper 50 Cent has taken a shocking turn by trolling record executive Irv Gotti after his passing. The “In Da Club” artist shared an Instagram post with two slides, one featuring a decorative tombstone with the phrase “RIP”, and another showing a photo of Gotti at the City of Hope 2023 Spirit of Life Gala.
50 Cent wrote on the first slide, “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack,” followed by “nah God bless him LOL.” The post appears to be a dig at Gotti, who was known for his feuds with artists. This is not the first time 50 Cent has targeted Gotti; in August 2024, he had taunted Gotti while the record executive was on life support following a second stroke.
Def Jam colleague Lyor Cohen has since paid tribute to Gotti, praising what he brought to the label and expressing his loss. “Def Jam has lost one of its most creative soldiers who was hip-hop,” Cohen said. The music industry is mourning the passing of Irv Gotti, who will be remembered for his contributions to hip-hop.
