Google has rolled out Android 16 and introduced six new features focused on personalization, making your Android feel more like yours. These updates include custom icons in group chats, device-specific shortcuts for Favorites, an improved Safety Check feature, new Emoji Kitchen stickers, and enhanced public transit payments.
The new Google Messages will allow users to customize RCS group chats by setting unique names and assigning custom icons, making them stand out in a crowded messaging space. You’ll also be able to see which contacts are using RCS and mute notifications from specific group chats for as long as desired.
Google Home app users can now create device-specific shortcuts for their Favorites, pinning important features exactly where they’re needed most. This update makes managing smart home products faster and more intuitive.
The Personal Safety app has received an update to its Safety Check feature, allowing you to extend your check-in timer with a tap from your phone or smartwatch. This feature provides peace of mind while exercising alone.
Emoji Kitchen stickers have also gotten a new upgrade, enabling users to mix and match emojis for creative expressions. You can now add playful stickers like a praying carrot or pointing pig to spice up your chats.
Lastly, Wear OS smartwatch users will benefit from smoother public transit payments, allowing tap-to-pay even when the Google Wallet app isn’t open.
While these features might not be groundbreaking, they enhance daily life with subtle yet significant improvements.
