Seven migrants from Chile have been charged with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property in connection with a nationwide spree of burglaries targeting high-profile athletes from the NFL and NBA. The suspects, who were members of the South American Theft Group (SATG), broke into homes while players were away competing in games.
The federal criminal complaint reveals that the group conducted extensive surveillance on their targets’ homes, sometimes even posing as groundskeepers or joggers to gather information. Authorities found a photo released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office showing the suspects posing with stolen goods at the home of a Milwaukee Bucks player on November 2, 2024.
The burglary victims include NFL players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, as well as other athletes from various teams. The suspects face up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
