7 Freed Palestinians Admitted to Hospital Due to Brutality

Seven Palestinians freed by Israel on Saturday, as part of a Gaza ceasefire deal, were admitted to hospitals in Ramallah due to severe brutality they suffered while in Israeli custody. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club reported that the prisoners were subjected to “brutal” treatment, including torture and starvation.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, seven inmates were admitted to hospitals after their release from Israeli jails. The organization said that dozens of Palestinians released last week showed signs of torture and starvation.

The fifth captive-prisoner exchange since the ceasefire took effect has raised concerns about the ongoing brutal conditions in Israeli jails. Analyst Basil Farraj warned that Israel is likely to re-arrest some of those who have been released, citing previous detentions as an example.

There are approximately 4,500 Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons, including 310 under administrative detention without trial. The Palestinian Prisoner Society reported that prisoners often suffer from scabies, rib fractures, and other health issues due to prolonged beatings and torture.
