Trinity Forge Celebrates 70 Years of Manufacturing High-Quality Parts for Aerospace and Defense Industries
In 1955, Trinity Forge fired up its first furnace in Hurst, Texas, marking the beginning of a 70-year journey to become one of the leading forging companies in the US. What started as a small shop has grown into a 100,000-square-foot facility with 110 employees, producing high-strength parts for top aerospace and defense firms like Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
From its humble beginnings, Trinity Forge has expanded its offerings to cater to various industries, including transportation, heavy equipment, and technology-focused companies. The company’s focus on innovation and durability has enabled it to provide high-quality components to a range of clients.
“We invest in workforce development because we need that,” said John Fairbanks, CEO and President of Trinity Forge. “We work with local schools to bring people in here and it’s working.”
The company has modernized its operations over the years, adding quality control departments, nondestructive testing, and specialized machine tools. Trinity Forge now produces parts from a few ounces to over 100 pounds, with the largest part weighing only 10 pounds initially.
While American manufacturing is on the upswing, it’s not always an attractive option for new graduates. Fairbanks attributed this to the company’s ability to develop its workforce. “It’s still hard work finding good people,” he said.
The company has seen a significant shift in its customer base over the years, with defense now representing 70% of its work. This growth can be attributed to Trinity Forge’s modernization and diversification efforts.
Trinity Forge’s commitment to community support is evident in its ability to create careers for multiple generations of families. As Fairbanks said, “This milestone is about more than just the parts we produce… It’s about the generations of families who’ve built their careers here and the community that’s supported us through the years.”
