A routine patrol by Lakeville police officer Sgt. Shawn Robert led to the discovery of about 80 undelivered Amazon packages dumped in the woods on Sunday morning. The incident occurred just days before Christmas and near the Amazon fulfillment center on Commerce Boulevard in Middleboro.
The officer found three totes full of packages spread out in a wooded area, prompting him to investigate further. After collecting the packages, they were brought back to headquarters, inventoried, and returned to the fulfillment center.
Lakeville Police Chief Matthew Perkins commended Sgt. Robert for his diligence, stating that he likely saved holiday deliveries for many local residents by noticing the abandoned packages in time. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
