A single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 82 near Hermiston, Oregon, injured nine people and required immediate response from local emergency services. The Oregon State Police reported a tire blowout led to the crash.
On Tuesday, June 23, Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 responded to the call at 1:11 p.m. after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle accident with several injuries. Paramedics and firefighters found one vehicle with significant damage and nine people inside, prompting a mass casualty incident.
Rescuers had to free two people from the crash, and nine suffered varying levels of injuries. The fire district used six ambulances in response, while neighboring districts sent additional resources to assist. The occupants are from Kamiah, Idaho, and are 8-53 years old.
Two occupants were transported out of state, one was flown to Portland, and the driver was not at fault for the crash. A tire blowout on the Suburban caused the incident, which left nine people injured and required a swift response from local emergency services.
