The finalists for the 90th annual Heisman Memorial Trophy have been announced, with four top college football players from different conferences vying for the prestigious award. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, and Miami quarterback Cam Ward are among the four finalists. The announcement was made by 1989 Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.
The top-10 finishers will be featured on The Top 10 Heisman Trophy Finalists Show Presented by Nissan on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, while the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner will be announced during the televised Heisman Trophy Ceremony Presented by Nissan that will air Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The finalists are a mix of dominant players from different conferences, with Gabriel leading No. 1 Oregon to a perfect season and Hunter making a strong case as one of the top defensive players in college football. Jeanty is also among the top contenders after his impressive performance for Boise State, while Ward’s passing prowess makes him a dark horse candidate.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that four finalists will be invited to New York City for the Heisman Trophy weekend. The Heisman Trust announced its decision to invite four finalists annually in 2021 and has continued this tradition since then.
The top-10 finishers will have their ballots counted, with a total of 928 electors voting on the award. Gabriel, Hunter, Jeanty, and Ward are also finalists for several other prestigious awards, including the Walter Camp Award, Maxwell Award, Bednarik Award, Biletnikoff Award, Hornung Award, Doak Walker Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Manning Award.
The 2024 Heisman Trophy ceremony will take place in New York City, with a limited number of tickets available for the event. The finalists’ names were announced on December 9, and they are set to compete for the award on December 14.
