95-Year-Old Grandma’s Remains Found After Devastating Eaton Fire

A devastating fire in Altadena has led to the discovery of a 95-year-old grandmother, Dalyce Curry, whose remains were found at her destroyed home. The family was left uncertain about her fate after the fire tore through her house on Tuesday. Coroner’s officials confirmed that Curry’s remains were discovered just before 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Kelley, who is Curry’s part-time caregiver and granddaughter, had dropped off her grandmother at home around midnight on Tuesday. Kelley thought the fire would not pose a threat to Curry’s safety. However, when power went out in the area, Kelley rushed back to check on Curry. Despite finding evidence of smoke and destruction, Curry was nowhere to be found.

By Friday, Kelley was escorted by a member of the national guard to her home, where she found “total devastation.” The only item left intact was Curry’s blue Cadillac. Despite being 95 years old, Curry was described as “very active” and had plenty of life left in her.

In an emotional interview before learning of her grandmother’s death, Kelley said she was “still praying for a miracle,” but feared the worst. Her granddaughter also shared that Curry was part of Old Black Hollywood in the 1950s, having acted in iconic films like “The 10 Commandments” and “Lady Sings the Blues.”
