Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has concluded after five seasons, leaving fans with mixed emotions. The series finale, which aired on December 15, paid tribute to renowned horseman Bob Avila and tied up several loose ends. Kayce (Luke Grimes) saved the Yellowstone Ranch by selling it to High Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), while Beth (Kelly Reilly) avenged late patriarch John (Kevin Costner) by killing Jamie (Wes Bentley).
In May 2023, it was announced that the show would conclude with its fifth season. However, negotiations for a potential sixth season were reported to be underway, starring Reilly and Cole Hauser as they prepare to star in their own Yellowstone spinoff. The cast has expressed mixed feelings about the finale, with Grimes praising Sheridan’s writing and Reilly vowing to “give it your whole heart” during filming.
The finale ended with a major Dutton victory, but also a shocking death. Kayce sold the land to the Broken Rock Reservation for $1.25 an acre, with Rainwater agreeing to keep his family on the East Camp and prevent development or sale. Meanwhile, Beth exacted her revenge on Jamie before Rip intervened, leading to a thrilling conclusion.
While Yellowstone’s official finale is confirmed, a potential sixth season remains uncertain. Reilly and Hauser have signed deals to lead a spinoff series, but its release date has yet to be announced.
