OpenAI has introduced a feature that allows users to call ChatGPT directly using their phone line, making it possible to access the chatbot’s advanced answers without an internet connection. Users in the US can dial 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478) to engage in natural conversations with ChatGPT via Advanced Voice Mode technology.
The main goal of this feature is to enable users who are offline or in areas without reliable internet connectivity to still access ChatGPT’s expertise. This could be particularly useful for individuals on road trips, for instance, who want to ask questions about what they’ve seen without needing to upload images or videos.
In addition to the phone line feature, ChatGPT is now available on WhatsApp, allowing users to chat with the bot via text directly from Meta’s messaging platform. OpenAI plans to integrate their accounts with the WhatsApp bot in the near future.
Other recent updates include the availability of ChatGPT Search for free, video support in Advanced Voice Mode, and integration with Siri for iPhone and iPad users. The ChatGPT app is available for download on the App Store, requiring an iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later.
