Michael Virgil, 35, died on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship after attacking crew members and threatening fellow passengers. Virgil was traveling with his fiancé and 7-year-old son when he became unruly on the ship, reportedly getting off the elevator on the wrong floor. He uttered racial slurs and attacked two crew members before being restrained.
Fellow passenger Christifer Mikhail recorded the incident and described Virgil as “drunk” who threatened to kill them. Passengers reported that Virgil also kicked a door and tried to punch one while a crew member attempted to speak with him. The FBI is investigating the incident, which has left his family stunned. They said the behavior was not consistent with Virgil’s usual demeanor.
Royal Caribbean issued a statement expressing sadness over the incident and offering support to the family. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities have confirmed that they are looking into the circumstances surrounding Virgil’s death.
