Apple Intelligence Faces Uncertain Future Amid Lack of Consumer Demand

Apple’s foray into artificial intelligence (AI) appears to be met with skepticism from consumers. A recent study by Sellcell found that 73% of iPhone users and 87% of Samsung users surveyed believe AI features add little or no value to their daily lives. This suggests that Apple’s push for AI-powered products may not be resonating with the masses.

In an effort to emphasize its focus on AI, Apple has rebranded several new products as “built for Apple Intelligence.” However, this approach may be too focused on showcasing the feature rather than highlighting other key aspects of the product. The slow rollout of these features and their limited availability in some regions have also contributed to a lack of excitement.

While previous attempts at portable AI gadgets have failed, it’s unclear whether consumers would appreciate a dedicated AI assistant on their phone. Sellcell’s study implies that consumers may be more interested in fundamental improvements such as better cameras and longer-lasting batteries.

This raises concerns for Apple, particularly given the company’s recent lack of innovation with its iPhone 16 launch and the lukewarm reception to its new product category, Vision Pro. With consumers seeming unimpressed by AI features, Apple needs a revolutionary product to regain momentum. If it fails to deliver, the lack of enthusiasm for Apple Intelligence could be detrimental to the brand’s future.
