SpaceX to Launch Private Astronaut Missions to International Space Station

Aerospace startup Vast Space LLC has partnered with SpaceX for two private astronaut missions to the International Space Station (ISS). The deal, announced on Thursday, marks a significant expansion of Vast’s ties with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. As part of its plans to commercialize Earth’s orbit, Vast aims to send civilian crews to the ISS.

Vast’s partnership with SpaceX comes as the company competes for a spot in NASA’s private astronaut program. Since 2019, NASA has allowed companies to launch private astronauts to the ISS, providing valuable experience and insight into operating a space station. The successful completion of these missions will help firms better understand the costs and challenges associated with space travel.
