Ravens Cut Diontae Johnson After Brief stint

The Baltimore Ravens have waived wide receiver Diontae Johnson, just six weeks after acquiring him in an attempt to boost their offense. Johnson played in only four games for the Ravens, recording a single catch for six yards.

In his first game with the team, Johnson had just one catch for six yards and didn’t make any subsequent appearances. The Ravens suspended him earlier this month due to his refusal to play against the Philadelphia Eagles and excused him from practice earlier in the week.

Johnson’s departure marks the end of a disastrous stint with the Ravens, who gave up a fifth-round pick in exchange for the struggling receiver. With the Ravens set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, it appears they were not willing to risk Johnson seeing action in an AFC North rivalry game that could determine playoff seeding.

Johnson is now searching for his third team in as many months after being traded by the Carolina Panthers earlier this month. The Ravens’ decision to cut ties with Johnson suggests their faith in him was short-lived.
