Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk were spotted having dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago. The meeting came after Mr. Musk tweeted that it was a “great conversation”.
Mr. Bezos has pledged $1m to Trump’s inauguration fund, while Mr. Musk funneled over $250m to election efforts supporting Trump. Both men have significant business interests with the US government.
Amazon Web Services secured a $10bn contract with the National Security Agency in 2021, and Blue Origin received a $3.4bn contract to build a lunar lander for NASA in 2023. Meta pledged $1m to the inauguration fund, while OpenAI’s Sam Altman also donated.
The meetings raise concerns about Trump’s relationship with tech companies, which have been accused of censorship and threatened by the president-elect. Despite this, some tech leaders, including Mr. Zuckerberg, appear to have warmed up their stance towards Trump after a previous suspension from Facebook.
