Tesla has announced a recall of nearly 700,000 cars in the United States due to an issue with its tire pressure monitoring system. The affected vehicles include 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drivers may not receive proper warnings when their tires are underinflated, which can increase the risk of a crash.
This is Tesla’s 15th recall so far this year, with over 2.7 million cars impacted. The previous largest recall was issued in July and affected 1.8 million vehicles due to issues with the seat belt warning system, rearview cameras, and other safety features.
Tesla’s stock fell 6% on Friday, likely due to investor concerns following a post-election rally. However, shares rebounded quickly after opening, rising by 1%.
The recall is part of a broader trend of safety concerns surrounding Tesla vehicles, which have been linked to several high-profile incidents in the past year. The company’s autopilot system has been under investigation, and there have been reports of fatal accidents involving Tesla models.
Despite these concerns, Tesla remains committed to improving its safety record. CEO Elon Musk has stated that “Teslas are the safest cars on the road, but most people don’t know that.”
