17 US Wireless Providers Support iOS-Android RCS Messaging

Apple has revealed the list of US wireless providers that support Rich Communication Services (RCS) on iPhones. With iOS 18, Apple added RCS support to the iPhone’s Messages app, allowing users to share higher-quality images, receive read receipts, and send larger files.

Originally, only T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T supported RCS in the US. However, the number of providers has risen to 17, including major carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and Visible, as well as MVNOs such as Metro by T-Mobile and PureTalk.

To check if your provider is on the list, open the Messages app on your iPhone and look for “Text Message + RCS” in the text field. If your provider isn’t listed, you can wait for them to join or switch to a supported carrier.

One of the most significant benefits of RCS support is improved image quality. Without RCS, images sent between an Android user and an iPhone user would often be low-quality. With Apple’s support, users can now receive high-quality images and videos from cross-platform messaging sessions, making the experience more enjoyable.

However, it’s worth noting that full end-to-end encryption is not available for iOS users due to the version of RCS supported by Apple.
