A recent Consumer Reports survey provides insights into car brand satisfaction and reliability for 2024. The data visualization shows that Rivian, BMW, and Tesla topped the list of most satisfying brands, but Japanese brands like Subaru, Lexus, and Toyota secured the top spots in terms of reliability.
The survey’s results are based on owner responses to questions about their experiences with specific car brands. Satisfaction rates range from 36% for Volkswagen to 86% for Rivian. Reliability scores vary from 38% for Volvo to 68% for Subaru.
However, a key finding is that satisfaction and reliability are not always closely tied. For instance, Tesla scored highly in terms of customer satisfaction but poorly in reliability, while brands like Acura and Mazda rank high in reliability but lower in satisfaction.
Rivian stands out as a top-performing brand across multiple aspects, including comfort, usability, and affordability. Volkswagen, on the other hand, lags behind in areas such as driving experience and cabin storage.
Interestingly, Rivian has recently partnered with Volkswagen to share EV platform technology. This collaboration highlights the growing trend of automotive brands exploring partnerships to stay competitive in the electric vehicle market.
