A woman traveling from Los Angeles to Philadelphia was flagged by TSA officers after a routine X-ray screening revealed 82 fireworks, three knives, two replica firearms, and pepper spray in her carry-on bag. The discovery shocked even seasoned officers, highlighting the importance of double-checking luggage before arriving at the airport.
Fireworks and other explosives are never allowed in carry-on bags, while replica firearms and knives can be carried on but only in checked luggage. However, larger canisters of pepper spray containing more than 2% tear gas by mass are not permitted and may be restricted by individual airlines.
The woman was interviewed by airport police, who then contacted the TSA bomb squad to confiscate explosives from her bag. The incident serves as a reminder for travelers to carefully review their luggage contents before heading to the airport.
