Big Crypto Donates Millions to Trump Inaugural Fund

Cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Kraken have donated $1 million each to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee. Blockchain payments firm Ripple will also contribute $5 million in the crypto token XRP. MoonPay, a digital asset payment provider, has pledged an undisclosed amount.

These donations are part of a record-breaking $200 million pledge from corporate and individual donors, surpassing previous records set by Trump’s first inaugural committee. The contributions reflect enthusiasm for Trump’s promised lighter regulatory touch on the cryptocurrency industry.

Industry leaders, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, have expressed optimism about the future of crypto under Trump’s administration. Notable appointments include Paul Atkins as SEC chairman and David Sacks as the first crypto and AI ‘czar’.

Tech giants like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman have also donated $1 million each to the fund.
