Josh Allen appeared to suffer an injury to his right arm during the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s 24-21 win over the New England Patriots, but fortunately, it was not as serious as it seemed. The quarterback took a hit to the elbow, causing temporary numbness in his hand due to hitting the funny bone nerve.
“It was a weird feeling,” Allen said post-game. “I don’t know if it was the elbow, helmet, or ground, but I lost some feeling in my hand.” After an initial loss of sensation, feeling gradually returned to Allen’s hand over the course of five to ten minutes.
Allen threw errant on the play following the hit and struggled with the pass due to a lack of feeling in his hand. However, he managed to return to the game after a brief stint on the sidelines.
“Having no feeling in my hand made it hard to throw,” Allen explained. “It took getting blood flow back in there for me to feel comfortable again.”
While Allen had an off-game statistically, completing only 16-of-29 passes and rushing for 30 yards, his team’s win was a testament to the quarterback’s ability to avoid serious injury.
Allen returned to the offense after a brief delay and led Buffalo to their victory.
