Swiss snowboarder Sophie Hediger, who represented her country in the 2022 Winter Olympics, has died following an avalanche at a ski resort in Switzerland. She was 26.

The incident occurred on Monday at Arosa resort, and officials have expressed their condolences to Hediger’s family. Swiss-Ski CEO Walter Reusser described the death as “tragic” and said it had cast a dark shadow over Christmas for the Swiss ski community.
