Nvidia Trains 100,000 Californians on AI in Historic Partnership

Nvidia is partnering with California to train 100,000 residents on artificial intelligence (AI) in a first-of-its-kind program. The initiative aims to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and access to advanced hardware. The program focuses on three key areas: training students, educators, and workers; supporting job creation and promoting innovation; and using AI to solve challenges that can improve the lives of Californians.

The program is part of an executive order by Governor Gavin Newsom to make California a leader in AI and technology overall. Nvidia will bring its resources into community colleges, including curriculum, certifications, software, and bootcamps, so students can learn how to use AI to get in-demand jobs.

The program also aims to open up new career pathways for students who wouldn’t otherwise have access. Government representatives will choose certain community college faculty to participate in special AI ambassador programs.

On the job front, Nvidia will provide technical guidance and mentorship. California will support early-stage AI startups to create innovation zones and job hubs, and hold hackathons or design sprints that showcase practical applications of AI.

The program is expected to create a pipeline to drive future innovations and address challenges like traffic congestion and language accessibility. According to Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, the program will help prepare California for tomorrow’s challenges and unlock prosperity throughout the state.
