Apple’s latest foray into Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been met with widespread disappointment from users and critics alike. Despite a soft launch in September, Apple Intelligence has failed to live up to its hype due to several critical flaws.
One major issue is the lack of a steady release schedule, which has left users feeling let down. The staggered rollout has made it difficult for consumers to get excited about new features, as most interesting updates are months away from being fully released. Additionally, Apple’s advertising strategy focuses on gimmicky features like Genmoji and ChatGPT tools, rather than showcasing more practical and useful aspects of the AI.
The writing tool feature, touted as one of the most exciting aspects of Apple Intelligence, feels undercooked and lacks key quality-of-life improvements. Siri, another core component of the AI, remains lacking in terms of functionality and accuracy. The update promised for March 2025 may address some of these issues, but it’s too little, too late to salvage the overall product.
Perhaps the most concerning question is whether AI will ever truly “help” us, or if computers will eventually become content with menial tasks like proofreading and summarization. As companies push towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) or Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI), it’s unclear what the future holds for human-AI collaboration.
For now, Apple Intelligence seems to be stuck in a beta phase, relying on chatbots and outdated Siri to fill gaps in its capabilities. Until significant improvements are made, users will likely continue to question whether this AI is truly worth the hype.
