The Piney-Pinecreek Border Airport, which spans the border of Minnesota and Manitoba, Canada, will close its doors on Friday after a seven-decade run. The airport, which opened in 1953, had low usage and incurred significant maintenance costs due to runway, apron, and terminal reconstructions. Its international agreement expires December 26 and won’t be renewed by the airport owners, leading to the closure.
