The Social Security Administration (SSA) will send advance payments to some beneficiaries on December 24. These payments are part of the monthly benefit distribution for December. The SSA has already sent out SSI payments and those who started receiving their payments before May 1997.
Next, they sent payments to people with birth dates between the 1st and 10th on December 11, and those between the 11th and 20th on December 18. Then, an advance payment will be sent starting December 24 for beneficiaries with birth dates between the 21st and 31st.
These payments are one day early due to Christmas Eve being a federal holiday. The last payment of the month will be sent on December 31, which is also for those who need their SSI benefits in January 2025.
A cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) next year will increase Social Security benefit amounts by 2.5%. This means average payments in 2025 will be higher than this year’s. Beneficiaries can expect a notification of their new amount through mail or mySocialSecurity account.
