NFL Christmas Day Doubleheader Recap: Chiefs Clinch No. 1 Seed and Ravens Roll Past Texans

The Kansas City Chiefs secured the AFC’s No. 1 seed with a convincing 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Houston Texans 31-2 in a Christmas Day doubleheader.

In Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes led the charge, throwing for 320 yards and three touchdowns on an impressive eight-play opening scoring drive. The Chiefs’ vintage victory was marked by a methodical approach, with Mahomes airing it out like his old self on several occasions. The team’s running game sputtered, but the passing game more than made up for it.

Meanwhile, in Baltimore, Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry wreaked havoc on the Houston Texans, combining for 173 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Jackson broke Mike Vick’s record for career rushing yards by quarterback with an 87-yard effort, and the Ravens’ defense held the Texans to just 147 total yards. With this win, the Ravens secured their second division title in three years and will look to make a deep playoff run.

The Texans, meanwhile, struggled mightily against the Ravens, unable to find any rhythm on offense. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was particularly ineffective, missing high and wide on several throws. The defense showed flashes of brilliance, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the team’s lack of production.

As for the AFC North, the Ravens’ victory over the Texans puts them in position to capture the division title. If they can maintain their recent balance on both sides of the ball, good luck to the rest of the conference. The Chiefs’ win over the Steelers also secured their spot as the No. 1 seed, setting up a potential showdown against the Ravens in the playoffs.
