Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola expressed disappointment and frustration after his team drew 1-1 with Everton on Boxing Day. The draw marks the fifth consecutive match without a win, as City have now lost one of their last 13 games in all competitions.
Guardiola described his side’s performance as “good” but conceded that they are struggling to find consistency at present. He praised the team’s effort but acknowledged that they need to work on finishing chances. Erling Haaland had a second-half penalty kick saved, which City created several scoring opportunities from.
In a downbeat post-match interview with Amazon Prime in the UK, Guardiola emphasized the importance of mental preparation ahead of their next match against Leicester. “We need to go there with the best mentality as possible,” he stated.
Defender Manuel Akanji echoed Guardiola’s sentiments, stating that City did not deserve a draw and were unlucky not to win the game. He credited his team for creating numerous chances but lamented their inability to capitalize on them.
