Teddy Bridgewater Returns to NFL with Detroit Lions

Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is back on the gridiron just weeks after leading Miami Northwestern to a Florida Class 3A state championship as head coach. According to reports, Bridgewater will sign with the Detroit Lions’ active roster.

Bridgewater, 32, had spent his final season in the NFL with the Lions in 2023 and had expressed his desire to return to coaching in the offseason. He led Miami Northwestern to the state championship title, citing experience gained from working with younger players as a key takeaway.

The veteran quarterback played for several teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and Miami Dolphins, during his 10-year career. During that time, he completed over 66% of his passes for more than 15,000 yards and 75 touchdowns, while also running for nearly 850 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Lions coach Dan Campbell praised Bridgewater’s return, stating that he brings a level of professionalism and veteran presence to the team. This marks another chapter in Bridgewater’s career, as he navigates his transition from coaching high school football to returning to the NFL sidelines.
