OG Maco, the Atlanta-born rapper known for his hit song “U Guessed It,” has passed away at the age of 32. He had been hospitalized since December 12 after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts by doctors, he went into critical condition and was unable to be revived.
Maco’s family released a statement on Monday morning, describing his life and career as “a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love.” The rapper’s family had flown in from out of town to be with him during his final days.
In 2014, Maco rose to fame with the viral hit “U Guessed It,” which helped establish him as a rising star in hip-hop. He went on to collaborate with other notable artists and even appeared on the 2015 XXL Freshman list. However, his career was later derailed by medical issues, including a flesh-eating disease.
