Judge Rejects Jay-Z’s Efforts to Dismiss Rape Claim

Rapper Jay-Z is facing a civil lawsuit alleging rape dating back more than 20 years. The plaintiff, who was 13 at the time, had initially sued anonymously but has since revealed her identity. A judge has ruled that she can continue with the case under her real name and that it will not be dismissed on its merits.

Jay-Z’s lawyer filed a series of aggressive motions, which the judge described as “inflammatory” and “a waste of judicial resources.” The judge rejected Jay-Z’s attempts to fast-track the case and instead warned his lawyer that such tactics may backfire. While Jay-Z is unlikely to lose the lawsuit, the judge suggested that his lawyer’s approach has not helped his client gain an advantage.

The decision came as a surprise to many, given Jay-Z’s initial response to the allegations. The rapper had sued the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, and sought to have the case dismissed in its entirety. However, the judge rejected these efforts, stating that they were “unlikely to benefit his client.”
