A winter storm is sweeping through Northern California and southern Oregon, but Fresno residents can expect relatively mild weather for now. According to National Weather Service meteorologist David Spector, the area will receive only a small amount of rain, about 0.1 inches, while the central Sierra will see several inches of snow.
However, as the storm system moves out, a high-pressure system is expected to bring dry and warmer-than-normal temperatures to the region by the end of next week. This shift in weather is part of the ongoing La Niña pattern, which will also affect temperature highs and fog levels in the Valley.
The forecast for Fresno suggests a gradual warming trend, with highs reaching 57-61°F over the next few days before dropping slightly. By New Year’s Day and January 2, temperatures are expected to rise further, reaching highs of 55-58°F. Despite this warm-up, residents should be aware that tule fog may build up if there is a prolonged period of rain after the storms pass.
